Why Sponsor Feet First?

Brand Positioning

Reinforce your reputation as a leader that invests in the local community. Feet First’s members range widely in terms of age, income, and interests, and they all share an interest in supporting community health. Members are focused on fighting obesity and increasing safety through walking routes to and from school. They are also advocates of the many economic benefits of a walkable neighborhood. While other members enjoy incorporating a healthy, sustainable lifestyle by exploring neighborhoods by foot.

Let your customer base and other stakeholders know that you care about the health and vibrancy of the community that supports you.
[quote quote=”We all benefit from a more walkable city. Most of my customers live or work within walking distance from the pub. The more walkable the city is, the better my business does and the safer the streets become as our visitors choose to walk to and from the pub.” author=”Bob Brenlin, Owner of Latona Pub”]

The audience for sustainable urban design topics continues to grow, as record populations move toward lifestyles that provide convenient and easy ways to go by foot. Feet First interacts regularly with local political officials to discuss transportation issues, and has seen its membership take off, having doubled over the past year.

Our events are promoted on a monthly basis through local newspapers, neighborhood blogs, social media channels, and partner organizations, accruing a reach far beyond membership.

Through the Walkable Washington program, Feet First consults with city officials on making their cities more walkable. Feet First’s website is a resource for policy issues and special events that attracts over 10,000 unique page views each month.

In addition to reinforcing your commitment to community health, your support of Feet First enables you to reach thousands of active and influential members of the community.

Sponsor a Feet First Event

Feet First Signature Events such as Walk & Talks and our Neighborhood Walking Ambassador city-wide walks draw up to hundreds of attendees together to celebrate walking and talk about making our built environment a vibrant and safe place for everyone.

Signature Events

Walk & Talks

Walk & Talks take the public on a short walk showcasing local development projects designed to promote walking. These unique community engagement events bring together leaders and topic speakers to educate participants on the importance of safe, inviting and accessible places to walk, what they look like, and how to make them happen. Each event ends with a hosted reception.

Stairway Walks Day

Over a dozen guided urban explorations of the Puget Sound Region’s beautiful outdoor stairways, attracting hundreds of participants, highlighting the awesome elevation changes, and discussing the individual characteristics and historical context of the stairways. This event is held each year on Neighbor Appreciation Day, which falls on the first Saturday in February.

Walk to School Challenge

In October, thousands of schools around the world get their students walking during Walktober. Feet First’s Walktober Challenge makes it easy for parents, teachers, and students throughout Washington to participate by giving them the tools and incentives to organize an event at their school.

Walable Washingtion Program

Feet First works with communities to implement a comprehensive set of policies, plans, projects and programs that results in walkable communities throughout the region. This event is held in the spring.
