CURRENT GRANT ACTIVITY

Jen and Ruby from Feet First with Principal Ouellette and Ashley Harris from SDOT pose for a photo on the Walking Audit at Wedgwood Elementary in November.

Feet First works tire-lessly to get more students walking to school. Much of our current local activity takes place at the four Seattle Schools that received Safe Routes to School Grants from the Washington State Department of Transportation:Greenwood Elementary, Mercer Middle School, South Shore K-8 and Wedgwood Elementary.

These grants, managed by the Seattle Department of Transportation, provide engineering improvements to make it physically safer to walk to school. Feet First, along with other partners like the Cascade Bicycle Club, Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center and Alta Planning + Design, provides education, encouragement, and evaluation services to help increase active school commuting.
